Shab-e She’r is Canada’s most diverse & brave poetry open mic, hosted by Bänoo Zan, the University of Alberta’s current Writer in Residence.

This event is open to poets writing in any language from University of Alberta / Edmonton / Canada / International community.

Shab-e She’r welcomes people from all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, nationalities, ages, genders, sexual orientations, religions (or lack thereof), (dis)abilities, and poetic styles, voices, and visions.

Shab-e She’r values are diversity and freedom of expression. We believe the answer to a poem is another poem. The only limit is the time limit: 5 minutes. Come prepared to hear people from outside your communities. And, feel free to share your voice.
