Shortlands Poetry Circle was established in 1911 by Miss Catherine Punch. Its aim was to promote the study and appreciation of poetry, and it has been going strong and remained true to that aim ever since.
The Poetry Appreciation Group meets on alternate Tuesdays at 2:30pm to share poems on programmed themes, with tea and biscuits and chat after meetings. On this occasion, the group will share and discuss poems by Yevgeny Yevtushenko and Wislawa Szymborska.
