The Capilano Review invites entries for its third annual fall contest. This year’s judge, George Bowering, offers this statement for this year’s competition:
“Robin Blaser was not fond of the notion that a poet should be “in control of his material,” a poor reviewer’s judgement too often heard in our time. Blaser was fond of reminding us that our language is far older than we are, far larger and far wiser. It is not a tool but a universe, and we should come to it with devotion, not mastery. In our contest we will be looking for language as clear and bright as attention can leave it.”
