The circle will commence with one or two Spring haiku, which will be introduced in the original Japanese. Season words and other components will be explained in English, whereupon participants will be invited to work together to come up with an English translation of the Japanese haiku.
Having thus gained an insight into what a haiku is, there will then be a workshop session in which participants will present their own haiku to the group for appreciation/constructive criticism. Guidance will be provided by “haiku therapist” Catherine Urquhart.
