CV2’s Farewell Summer Fling Fundraiser

Bring your friends, family, or summer fling down to The Beer Can for good eats, good drinks, and an evening of music, poetry, and overall swell times beneath the trees and twinkling lights along the Assiniboine River.
Ticket includes entry fee to The Beer Can for The Lytics concert at 8:30 PM.
Bonus: Those who show up early will also get to enjoy a poetry slam at 4:30pm, poetry reading at 5:30pm, and DJ Mama Cutsworth‘s set at 7:00pm!
Who will be on the stage?
The Lytics (Performing from 8:30 – 10:00 PM) A penchant for positivity is reflected The Lytics’ sound — an amalgam of old-school soundscapes and boom-box bangers that celebrates, inspires and challenges. In recent years, The Lytics have expanded their scope to include everything from funk-rock to Afrobeat to ‘60s R&B their shared turns on the mic are like a masterclass for emcees, and their vocals add a sense of soulful urgency — whether engaged in wistful rumination, or a rousing call to arms.
DJ Mama Cutsworth (Performing from 7:00 – 8:30 PM) Winnipeg’s Sarah Michaelson, a.k.a. Mama Cutsworth has a reputation for her deep knowledge and love of music that lives outside of the mainstream club scene. Mama Cutsworth’s musical taste spans eras and genres, including soul, Salsa, hip hop and house. Versatility is a key component to her style.
Local Poets (Performing from 4:30 – 6:30 PM) Come out and support local poets and slam poets as they read and perform their work!
Who does this event benefit?
Contemporary Verse 2 is a registered charity, and a space for diverse authors of every background and socioeconomic status to have the opportunity to express themselves on a distinguished literary platform that recognizes their talent and resilience.
Proceeds from this event will help fund the publication of the CV2 poetry magazine, as well as educational opportunities for emerging writers and resources for BIPOC authors.
