Al Purdy A-Frame Picnic

July 27, 2013, 12:00 AM EDT

The A-frame house at the edge of Roblin Lake near Belleville, Ontario was built in 1957 by legendary Canadian poet Al Purdy and his wife Eurithe. The Purdy house is now the site of the A-Frame Residency Program, under which writers are offered a time and place to work in a location that is attractive and of historic significance.
The Purdy Picnic festivities will include a guided literary tour with local writer and filmmaker Conrad Beaubien, a used book sale and display of the Purdy memorabilia at the library, pioneer and schoolhouse museums, ‘Purdy videos’ featured in the Town Hall, and much more.
