Where poets, composers and performers come together – Art Song Lab is a multi-month collaborative experience that culminates in a week-long program comprising rehearsals, workshops, forums, community building, and concerts. Successful applicants are paired in January. They then have about three months to create a brand-new art song from scratch. During the week in June, the new songs will be rehearsed by renowned singers and pianists, and will receive their world premiere as part of the SONGFIRE Festival of Song.
