Issue 82 – LANGUAGE
Submit your work by September 30th, 2023
Language informs our everyday. Language is rich, complex, & always changing/evolving. Whatever way you use language, whether you code switch at a doctor’s appointment, or you’re bi/tri/poly-lingual and weave languages together when speaking to relatives, or you use language systems to create interpretive sonnets, we at filling Station want to see your best experimental work that focuses on language and its usages.
The editors at filling Station welcome submissions of experimental prose, poetry, creative nonfiction, art, and reviews of books dealing with language and its constructs. This may include work with linguistic subject matter, or works that incorporate language(s) into their creative process. We specifically encourage submissions from writers and artists who face structural barriers to publication, including women and gender non-conforming individuals, BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, disabled, immigrant, impoverished, survivor, or other marginalized communities.
Send your original, unpublished work through Submittable with the word LANGUAGE in the title and cover letter by September 30th to be considered for inclusion in Issue 82. General submissions for FICTION and POETRY will close during this time. General submissions for CREATIVE NON-FICTION and ART will remain open.

Detailed submission guidelines can be found on our website: https://www.fillingstation.ca/submit
POETRY – Submit up to 6 pages of poetry via Submittable. Due to the high volume of submissions, Poetry accepts submissions only via Submittable. If your poem is spaced in a particular way, please make sure to use spaces, never tabs, so we can accurately replicate your layout. Also be sure to upload your submission as a PDF file in addition to the text document. A submission lacking mailing address and bio (25 – 75 words) will be considered incomplete.
