Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poesie National Finals
April 20, 2015, 12:00 AM – April 21, 2015, 12:00 AM EDT
Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie is a national poetry recitation contest for high school students in Canada. Registration is free and open to all secondary schools across Canada, as well as CEGEPs in Quebec. Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie was founded by Scott Griffin, Chairman and founder of The Griffin Trust For Excellence In Poetry, along with Trustees Margaret Atwood (emeritus), Carolyn Forché, Robert Hass, Michael Ondaatje, Robin Robertson, and David Young.
Students memorize and recite poems chosen from among the hundreds in the Poetry In Voice online anthology. They then compete in one of our three prize streams: English, Bilingual, or French. By learning poems by heart, students develop lifelong relationships with poetry while improving their language, public speaking, and memorization skills.
The 2015 National Finals will take place on April 20 & 21 at La salle Pierre-Mercure in Montreal.
