Brenda Hillman is the author of 10 collections of poetry, including Practical Water, for which she won the LA Times Book Award for Poetry; and Seasonal Works with Letters on Fire, which received the 2014 Griffin Poetry Prize and the Northern California Book Award for Poetry; and most recently Extra Hidden Life, Among the DaysThe Trembling Answers, which won the 2015 Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize from the Academy of American Poets; To Keep Love Blurry; and Brenda Is in the Room and Other Poems, winner of the Colorado Prize for Poetry. His first collection of essays We Begin in Gladness, was published by Graywolf in November 2018.
