Creating poems from other texts, whether poetry or prose, can be a great way to broaden your horizons and hone your creative editing skills: you will be working with existing materials, sifting through possibilities, and adding new material of your own to create original work. Under the broad concept of ‘found poetry’, this course will look at various techniques and forms including erasures, centos, plus a ‘free translation’ of a Rilke poem (no German required!). You may use texts that you are familiar with (a favourite poet, a favourite anthology, or a favourite subject) or use those supplied by the tutor.
