Submit to Arc Poetry (Translation Feature)

Arc accepts direct submissions of one-off or short sequences of poetry in translation through Submittable.
However, issues of Arc also include a 7-10 page feature spotlighting a single translator and a selection of a poet’s work in translation. The translator and/or poet whose work is being translated do not need to be Canadian, although we do prioritize featuring Canadian poets. These features include a 200-400 word introduction to the work in translation or note from the translator as well as 6-8 pages of poetry in translation. Send a pitch for the Translation Feature by emailing Arc’s Managing Editor, and please include a brief note about the work in translation, your translation experience, and confirmation that you have permission to publish the original poet’s work in translation.
Arc pays the translator for these features a flat rate of $250, and the original poet received $50 per page, with which Arc secures First Canadian Serial Rights (meaning that the poems should not appear in any print or digital publication before being published by Arc). Upon publication, payment is mailed as well as one free copy of the issue to both the original poet and translator, and all rights revert to the author.
