Village of Great Neck Plaza 5th Annual Poetry Contest submission deadline – extended
February 28, 2015, 12:00 AM EST
The Village of Great Neck Plaza was incorporated on May 3, 1930. The Plaza, centrally located within the the Great Neck Peninsula, and by virtue of it being a hub with the Long Island Rail Road’s Great Neck Station, contains unique, varied, upscale shops and restaurants found on our main street, “Middle Neck Road.” The village’s annual poetry contest is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Residents 18 years of age and above from Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Brooklyn are invited to submit up to the three unpublished poems, along with an entry fee, non-refundable, of $15.
Winners of the 5th Annual Poetry Contest will be announced on the Village’s website, on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. An Awards Day reading will take place on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at 2 p.m., at the Great Neck Plaza court room. The first prize winner will receive $150 and a 20-minute reading at Awards Day, second prize winner will receive $75 and a 10-minute reading, and the third place winner will receive $50 and a 5-minute reading.
