Guernica will only accept manuscript queries by email (via this form). We no longer accept queries by snail mail. Before sending in your query, however, please check our website to determine the type of material that best fits our publishing house. Also, please note we only accept manuscript submissions between January 1 and March 31.

Aside from the original Guernica Editions queries (pertaining to literary and cultural material), we have expanded the publishing house to include the MiroLand imprint. Under MiroLand, we accept queries in the areas of memoir, how-to, self-help, graphic novels, art books, as well as genre literature. When querying to the MiroLand imprint, please indicate as much.

Guernica Editions is a leading Canadian publisher of translations, with a growing reputation in the international rights market. Submission Guidelines

As with our queries, we will only accept manuscripts via email attachment. Please send manuscripts as Word documents (.doc or .rtf) to michaelmirolla@guernicaeditions.com. The manuscripts should be single-spaced, in a 12-point easy-to-read type. If at all possible, please give the manuscripts a name that includes the title and the author: The_Dubliners_Franz_Kafka.

We do our best to respond ASAP to queries and requested manuscripts, but it may take between six-eight months before an evaluation can be made and a response generated. PLEASE NOTE: While we accept submissions by non-Canadian authors for the Guernica World Editions imprint, acceptance and publication of books by non-Canadian authors requires an agreement that differs substantially from that for Canadian-authored books.

Please note that the annual reading period for Guernica Editions and its MiroLand imprint runs from January 1 to March 31. Submissions are only accepted during this period and only as email attachments. Please note that submissions for the Guernica World Editions imprint (for non-Canadian authors) are open year round.
