Sarah Howe interviews Sharon Dolin and Gemma Gorga

Poetry is a democratic thing. Everyone is invited.

Gemma Gorga

In this interview with Griffin Trustee Sarah Howe, 2022 Griffin Poetry Prize International Finalists Sharon Dolin and Gemma Gorga reflect on how they came to work together, the “knots” of translating from Catalan to English, and honouring “the constitution of the line” in translation. They end with a bilingual reading of the poem “L’hospitalitat de la pàgina en blanc / Hospitality of the Blank Page” from their shortlisted collection, Late to the House of Words (Saturnalia Books).
