Announcement Re: Upcoming Griffin Poetry Prize Dates

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve and The Griffin Trust For Excellence In Poetry, following official guidance from the federal Public Health Agency of Canada, and Toronto Public Health, has decided to cancel the 2020 Shortlist Readings scheduled to take place on Monday, June 8, and the Awards Evening dinner on Tuesday, June 9.

To date, the judges: Paula Meehan (Ireland), Kei Miller (Jamaica/UK), and Hoa Nguyen (Canada) have been reading a total of 572 books, submitted by 208 publishers from 14 countries, and will be in a position to announce this year’s shortlist (4 International, 3 Canadian) on Tuesday, April 7. The 2020 shortlist announcement will be made via our online channels at 9.00 a.m. (ET):

The International and Canadian winners will be announced on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, through the same online channels.

The Griffin Trust web site features the work and performances from past Griffin Poetry Prize events.
